College Football Week 6 Awards

October 12, 2012

Separation Saturday has come and gone, leaving a wave of upsets in it’s wake.  Number 3, 4, and 5 went down, showing that pre-season rankings are not a good indicator of how the season will play out.  There were a number of high-profile match-ups, highlighted by Georgia-South Carolina, LSU-Florida, and West Virginia-Texas.  This weeks’ games are not as glamorous, but offer the potential for more shocking upsets.

Game of the Week: WVU 48-Texas 45.  The Mountaineers continued their offensive onslaught in this back-and-forth contest with the Longhorns.  West Virginia has shown they are a force in not only the Big 12, but the entire country, as well.

Offensive Player of the Week: Braxton Miller – QB – Ohio St.  The sophomore signal-caller led the Buckeyes to an explosive 63-38 victory over Nebraska.  Miller only passed for 127 yards and 1 TD, but his legs provided 186 yards and a TD, including a 72-yard scamper, to propel the Bucks to a huge win.

Defensive Player of the Week: Brandon Sharpe – DE – Syracuse.  Sharpe had 7 tackles, including 4 sacks, in the ‘Cuse victory over Pitt in Friday primetime.
